“The greatest adaptation to CrossFit takes place between the ears.” - Coach Glassman
Last night I watched this video from CrossFit Journal, that talks about positive self-talk and applied it to today’s WOD. Did it work? Did I push myself? Yes sir! I didn’t break the thrusters, even though it sucked big time from the start. My squat is stronger because I’ve worked on it by doing linear progressions. My hips are a lot more flexible and it helps that I use Jared’s O-lift shoes. I muscle cleaned and it went pretty quick. The mental toughness kicked in midway through SDHP. Once I hit the bar I kept thinking to do 3, 3, 3.. but what really happened was… 5, 4, which is HUGE to me.
Now I need to apply this positive self talk to flag football. I was getting pushed around yesterday and I didn’t like it. I know I’m stronger than that. It’s all about adapting to what’s in front of you. I’m a lot lighter now, but I’m also a lot more flexible and stronger than I was, even when I did play football. I hate to admit this but I did puss out. I can’t wait til Sunday to redeem myself.
